Looking for a new headset to purchase for TS
Hi, just like to say im from the UK before anyone starts to give me links ^^.
OK that said, i heard Microsoft LifeChat LX-3000 Headset was amazingly comfortable on the ears (unlike most headsets which start to hurt the ears after an hour) and have very clear mic quality too. Are there any better headsets out there i can use for TS/VENT?? or should i buy the Microsoft LifeChat LX-3000 a friend recommended? Thanks in advance. |

I can't say they are better because I have never used the Microsoft headset. But, I love my SENNHEISER PC 155 headset. It is the most comfortable headset I have used, has excellent sound and good pick up from the microphone. This set also can be used either USB or standard jacks.
One thing to be aware of about USB headsets. The USB bypasses your sound card, so you get no benifit from the sound drivers. |

The microphone that comes with the Icemat headset is horrible. With zero noise cancellation inherent, it is a terrible choice for voice applications. Also, I find the headset itself to be uncomfortable with extended wear and the sound quality of the speakers is mediocre but not disappointing considering the price. Fortunately, the microphone is not affixed to the headset and can easily be replaced by one of better quality.
EDIT: So that it doesn't come off as a rebuttal to what BLOODGOAT has given as input, I want to clarify that my experience with my Icemat headset was a bit disappointing. Hopefully, this softens my review (if only slightly) of the Icemat headset. I can only attribute that to my failure to research my choice better than I did. Other users may enjoy that particular headset. Usually, headsets in the $50-75 range will give you good performance for gaming and voice chat. Less expensive headsets are out there and are satisfactory for voice chat application, although you may notice a difference between those and the higher-end headsets. With the exception of what I consider a design flaw in the wiring routing for the microphone, I would give a thumbs-up to the Plantronics GameCom1 USB headset. Overall, although slightly pricey, they are great for comfort, sound quality, and microphone performance. I've had luck with some Altec-Lansing headsets priced in the midrange. One thing to do, once you've narrowed down your choices, is to read the reviews. That alone could help you to prevent making an unfortunate purchase.
